Producer, dj and post-production engineer Stepan Chernov (aka Kammerton) can safely be named a musical multitalent. Stepan has pianist and kapellmeister degrees and already collaborated with numerous live bands and projects. His Serpentine” EP is a fresh breath of Detroit influenced house with spacious dub synthlines and mesmerizing groove. The title tune “Serpentine” is a slow burner and sets the tone for the record with dreamy synth progressions, discreetly jazzy keys, squelched chords and solid 4/4 rhythm. While “Mistress ” is an intuitively constructed dub-house killer, the kind of ever-morphing Detroit stabs makes this EP irresistible. “Winergy” concludes the serpentine journey from Moscow to Detroit and traps you in the subtly intricate and hypnotic groove of that new wave of Russian Deep.
